Shirley Pool Annual Club Championships
The Quays, Saturday June 9th 6pm to 9pm
Every year for over 40 years, the best swimmers in the Shirley Pool compete in our Club Championships. It has revealed great swimmers that have gone on to win National Titles and, mostly, provided huge enjoyment for thousands of children.
The best swimmers are those in the groups from Butterfly upwards. There may even be a few wild cards from the Breaststroke level who are nearly ready to move up.
It is always a very exciting evening for swimmers and parents. Please consider entering your child. It maybe that they are future Olympians, but more likely it would be the only major swimming event that they are invited to enjoy. There are only winners – everyone that enters gets an award and special souvenir, usually presented by the Mayor.
Dolphins swim in 50m and 100m events from the deep section against each other in what we call “timed heats”.
Dolphins are automatically entered for the event unless you tell the Head Coach otherwise. No need to make fill out an entry form, fees will be added to the June direct debit.
The Turtles and Swim School swim one length from the shallow end, starting in the water. The swimmers from the swim school get the chance to show off their skills to the Head Coach who can offer fast tracking to Dolphins Swim Squads.
A month later there is a special presentation evening when the fastest swimmers are honoured.

All proceeds from the evening are used to fund other galas and specialist training for Dolphin Swimmers.
