Use your arm across their knees to encourage stability and guide down by the fingers.
Focus on the direction of the eyes. They look up because they are scared. Tell them to be brave and reassure them it does not hurt if they enter the water correctly, prove it by using the

As above but teacher in the water takes the weight of the swimmer and makes the dive as slow as possible. Same teaching points as before. Great for reducing fear of impact. Only really possible with a “light” child!
