| Jack Perry (12) has become our latest Star Swimmer by becoming the first junior member of the club to complete the St.Ives Biathlon in Cornwall.
The event has long been a favorite of the older swimmers; five of the "Masters" completing the cruelling run to Carbis Bay and then mile and a half sea swim back. The junior event is shorter, but no less intimidating, running 800 metres in a wet suit before kicking off the shoes and racing across the beach for an 880m open water swim, hitting the water hot and tired. It was all too much for another young Dolphin, Ben Colmer who, despite being ahead of Jack, took an early ride home from the excellent lifeguards on jet skis.
Jack received a warm welcome from the hundreds of spectators on the harbour when he stopped just short of the finish line to wait for his pal Sam and cross the line together. Jack showed real spirit, good swimming skills and great sportsmanship and that is why he is the new Star Swimmer. Well done Jack!
More photos of theevent will be posted in the photo gallery very soon.
