Shirley Swimming Pools team swam at 2.30pm on Sat dec 3rd 2005.....

18 swimmers took part in the World wide swim to raise money to buy mosquito nets for children in Africa. In total the "team" swam 1408 lengths, the same as a 22 mile swim across the Channel.
Star performance was the Mellor family,Craig. James and mum each swam 200 lengths!
Amy Forder also completed 5000m while guests Howard and son Patrick clocked up 200 lengths.
Jack Perry, Tim & Nick Stringfelow, Tom Watson and Sam Richards chipped in with a mile each. Family team Philipa and Jonathon Burridge each swam 64 lengths.The remainder came from the Shirley Pool staff team: Abbie, Viv Chris Callum & David
